You deserve to move, run and dance the way that your body was designed to. Life is not meant to be watched from the sidelines, but sometimes your pain can put you out of the game.
Injuries and pain can be incredibly frustrating, making it very exciting when clients finally find a solution to their pain. I work with clients on a daily basis who get excited when we are able to initially resolve their muscular dysfunction. Unfortunately, I also watch many of their smiles fade as their pain and muscular dysfunction quickly return. I understand this can be disheartening and unfortunately, for some clients, it leads them to believe that the therapy did not work.
This could not be further from the truth. It is important to remember that the biggest part of restoring proper muscular function involves retraining the muscles. For some people, this is a short process. Yet, for others retraining their muscles can take time.
You can compare retraining your muscles to relearning a skill. I am sure many of you can recall practicing a skill for years, but as soon as you stopped practicing you lost your ability to perform as well. Playing an instrument and speaking a foreign language are great examples. You may have played an instrument growing up or taken Spanish classes in college. Unfortunately, once you stopped regularly practicing these skills, your performance decreased.
The same thing goes for your muscles. If a muscle has not been functioning properly for a prolonged period of time, it is going to take time to retrain the muscle to function the way they should.
Injuries, stress, and the duration of muscular dysfunction all play a role in how long it may take to restore proper muscular function. Fortunately, even muscles that have been dysfunctional for years are usually able to be restored within a matter of weeks.
Moral of the story… do not be disheartened when your pain and muscular dysfunction return. This is often part of the recovery process and increasing therapy and the frequency of your exercises will accelerate your recovery rate.
I would like to Thank everyone that made a donation to Chase’s fundraiser last weekend. We were able to raise $725.00.
Our staff member Kristin Hertz’s fiance, Chase, was in a terrible car accident causing severe injuries. His condition has been stabilizing, but there is still a long road ahead for him and Kristin.
We would like to continue supporting them. Anyone who donates will receive a free 15-minute Power Massage. In addition to that, all profits from the sales of any supplements through the end of 2017 will be donated as well.
As you get older your nutritional needs increase. At the same time, your body also has a harder time absorbing nutrients from food.
Correct nutritional deficiencies.
Prescription drugs, surgery, and other health conditions are prone to causing nutritional deficiencies.
Boost energy levels.
Several studies have demonstrated that taking a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement is associated with increased energy levels.
Maintain muscle strength.
Many of the problems with muscle loss are associated with free radical damage. An antioxidant-rich daily multivitamin can help decrease free radical damage. Vitamin D has also been shown to improve muscle strength in older people.
Along with boosting mood, research has shown that a daily multivitamin-particularly one containing therapeutic dosages of B-complex vitamins-can help reduce stress and anxiety.
Bonus Reason! A good multivitamin helps to increase antioxidant levels.
Over the last month I have received a few questions from MRT clients regarding the validity of the technology we are using to test antioxidant levels. The main questions asked were, “How can we be sure these results are accurate?”.
In this month’s newsletter, I would like to address the validity of the Biophotonic Scanner, which is the technology we are using at MRT to test clients antioxidant score.
With the Pharmanex Biophotonic Scanner, we are able to provide our clients with a quick, accurate, and affordable method for measuring antioxidant levels. The Biophotonic Scanner provides individuals with an actionable benchmark for nutritional health and can be used to predict risk factors for diseases caused by oxidative stress.
Unlike other testing methods, which are expensive, painful, and time consuming, the Biophotonic Scanner is the FIRST technology to provide a quick, painless, and affordable method for testing antioxidant levels.
There are 3 methods other than the scanner that I am aware of for testing your antioxidant levels. The first is a urine test. The urine test is more expensive than the Biophotonic Scanner and it does not provide you with a concise antioxidant score. Rather, it provides you with a ‘pass or fail’ style of scoring. The urine test is also far less accurate since it is not measuring the levels of nutrients that actually end up being absorbed by cells.
The second method is a blood test. Similar the urine test, a blood sample provides you with information regarding the levels of nutrients passing through your blood, but it does not provide information regarding cell absorption.
The third method is the gold stand for accurate results, yet it is far more painful and expensive. This method requires the removal of a significant piece of skin tissue, which is then analyzed in a lab.
According to dozens of peer-reviewed research publications (which you can view here) the Biophotonic Scanner provides clear benefits over the other available testing methods.
It is the most affordable method for assessing overall antioxidant levels. We only charge $10 for testing here, other healthcare providers charge $40-$50 for the same test.
It provides immediate results. Testing takes less than one minute.
It is painless, compared to other methods. The urine test is also painless, but it is also far less accurate. The skin sample, which is the most accurate test happens to be expensive and very painful.
The Biophotonic Scanner is just as accurate as skin sample testing. After scrutinized testing, dozens of peer-reviewed research publications have confirmed that the results of the Biophotonic Scanner are just as accurate as the most concise testing methods.
In 2000 The Journal of Investigative Dermatology published research confirming that the Biophotonic Scanners method for measuring antioxidant levels matched the measurements obtained from skin samples. These results established the Biophotonic Scanner as the leading method obtaining rapid, accurate, and affordable antioxidant scores.
The Biophotonic Scanner is an incredible, cutting-edge technology that we are fortunate enough to have access to at MRT. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share this technology with my clients. My hope is that clients will use the Biophotonic Scanner to learn more about their health and to make nutritional changes that enhance their antioxidant scores.
We had yet another great turn out for Antioxidant Testing.
We even had one client score 50,000! Way to go!
Holding up my end of the deal, I paid for her antioxidant test. As promised, I will continue to honor my commitment to pay for anyone’s test who scores 50,000 or higher.
This month’s average antioxidant test score was 32,000. Again, this number is above average. Unfortunately, it is still far below recommended antioxidant score of 50,000 or higher.
One of my clients this month asked me if age was a determining factor for antioxidant scores. The simple answer is no. I was happy to share with this client that their age has zero impact on their antioxidant levels.
Just to prove my point, I compared the average adults and children who tested with us this month. We scanned 6 children, whose ages ranged from 2 years old to 16 years old. The overall client score was 32,000, the average adult score was 33,000 and the average children’s score was 29,000, which is 3,000 lower than the adults score. I believe this not only reconfirms that age is not a factor, but it also shows what I have been afraid of, revealing that children may have the lowest antioxidant levels due to the amount of processed foods they are consuming. So for all of my clients with children, I would suggest you bring them in to get tested.
I was happy to see such a great turn out this month, and I applaud my clients for taking steps towards a healthier, happier life. Want to gain more control over your health?

We had yet another great weekend of antioxidant testing. This months average antioxidant score of 31,000 was down from last months score of 37,000. The lowest score was 15,000. The highest score this month was 52,000, which happened to be my score. Each month I will be rescanning my antioxidant scores, as I continue working towards my personal goal of 60,000.
Everyone who tests their antioxidant scores, should be striving to reach a level of 50,000 or higher. 50,000 is considered the minimum level for optimal antioxidant health. As I have mentioned before, if you score 50,000 or higher I will pay for your antioxidant test. In addition I have decided to also donate $10 to Crossroads Safe House, for every client that scores of 50,000.
Crossroads Safe House provides shelter, safety, and assistance to abused men, women and children within the Fort Collins community.
We are continuing to offer antioxidant testing on a monthly basis for only $10. I encourage each and every one of you to be proactive about your health and join us at one of our next testing days. To reserve your spot, call our office at (970) 449 – 9757.
Did you know that Vitamin D is one of the most essential nutrients for our bodies, yet an estimated 50% of American’s are deficient in it?
Thousands of studies have been done on the health effects of vitamin D, and research shows it is involved in the biology of all cells and tissues in your body. Most fascinating to me are the dozens of studies showing that raising your vitamin D levels can significantly reduce your risk of cancer.
Most recently, a randomized clinical trial by researchers at Creighton University, found vitamin D and calcium supplementation lowered participants’ overall cancer risk by 30 percent. Another study discovered that when you increase your serum vitamin D levels to 40 ng/mL or higher, your risk for cancer diminishes by 67 percent. They found that most cancers occurred in people with a vitamin D blood level between 10 and 40 ng/mL. The optimal level for cancer protection was identified as being between 40 and 60 ng/mL.
A primary consideration when it comes to vitamin D is to get your level checked, ideally twice a year, in the middle of the summer and winter, when your level is at its highest and lowest. What you’re aiming for is a level between 40 and 60 ng/mL year-round.
It is a safe bet that most of you reading this right now haven’t been getting enough vitamin D, even if you regularly take supplements.
It has been proven that natural sun exposure is by far the best way to boost your vitamin D levels. Unfortunately, we all know that too much sun can lead to pre-mature aging, skin damage and even disease. So how do you get the most out of the sun while still protecting yourself?
Even the low SPF sunscreens can prevent your body from turning the Ultraviolet B rays in Vitamin D. In order to get your daily dose of D, you need 15-20 minutes of unprotected sun exposure. That’s right, don’t lather on that sunscreen just yet. If you have sensitive skin and are afraid you will burn easily you can decrease your sun exposure to just 10-15 minutes.
Getting your daily dose of D will keep you happy and healthy, but don’t forget to put on your sunscreen after those first 20 minutes have passed. To help prevent sunburn, make sure to reapply every two-hours and use a brand you trust.
It would be incredible to receive a massage several times a month, but realistically most of us just don’t have the time, the money, or both. I know the feeling well.
Fortunately, we have a solution for you. Many of our clients have experienced a service we call Target Massage. Target Massage is a therapeutic treatment that utilizes multiple tools to help clients heal faster. One of those tools is a massage buffer. Over the years our Target Massage clients have continually commented on how relaxing and enjoyable the massage buffer is. Clients say they love coming in for the Target Massage sessions just for the massage buffer.
So, we have decided to try something new. We will now be offering 15-minute full body Buffer Massages. If you have had a bad day and need to reset, come in for a 15-minute Buffer Massage. If you have had a hard workout or need to recover from playing a sport or game, the 15-minute Buffer Massage is the perfect treatment for you!
